Meet Our Team in Shawlands Chiropody
Hi, my name is Scott Campbell, I am originally from Northern Ireland. I qualified with a honours degree in Podiatry and Medicine from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2013. I am a member of Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists and The health and care professionals council.
I became interested in Podiatry at the age of 6 when a family member got a verruca and a Podiatrist treated the verruca. I was fascinated watching the treatments that entailed.
My main podiatric interests are verruca needling, biomechanics and nail surgery. I enjoy the variety of patients and treatments that podiatry provides . I also find great satisfaction when a patient can come in limping and leave ‘walking on air’
In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, snowboarding and hill walking. I also enjoy movies and eating out or cooking as much as possible.
I work within Shawlands clinic on a Tuesday 10am till 6pm and alternate Fridays 8am till 4pm.
Hi, my name is Ruth Harfield and I have been a Podiatrist for almost 30 years having graduated with Distinction in 1989 with a Diploma in Podiatric medicine. I was also awarded the Langer Biomechanics prize and the May Dewar prize for clinical distinction.
The majority of my career has been based within the NHS where I initially specialised in Biomechanics and Podopaediatrics before moving to High risk Diabetic and wound-care community clinics and into Management. I also gained a post graduate certificate in Clinical leadership.
In more recent years I have added additional training in Lower limb Acupuncture, Verruca needling and Low level Laser.
A career highlight occurred in 2005 when I was nominated by the NHS to attend a private function celebrating outstanding contributions to Primary Care. Selected by Downing Street I met the then Prime Minister Tony Blair. An experience I will never forget.
I am HCPC registered and a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists.
I have worked in Private Practice since 2016 and you can find me in Shawlands on a Thursday evening 5pm until 8pm and alternate Fridays 8am until 4pm.
I have worked for over 20 years in Podiatry both in NHS and Private Practice.
I have an Honours degree in Podiatry and a diploma in Anatomy and Physiology.
My sessions within Shawlands clinic are normally Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 8am until 4pm and I can also arrange a domiciliary (home visit) if required. Please contact me direct for further details.
What is the different between a chiropodist and a podiatrist?
Chiropodists and podiatrists deal with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the lower limb. They are qualified to treat people with arthritis, diabetes, nail surgery and sports injuries. Chiropodists and podiatrists work with people of all ages. In the UK there is no difference between the terms chiropodist and podiatrist.
